Get started with Grit

Grit is a Pomodoro timer that lives in your Mac’s menu bar.

  1. Download Grit from the Mac App Store. Check the listing for current macOS requirements.
  2. Open Grit, then click its timer in the menu bar. It doesn’t open a standard app window.
  3. Start a work session. Free gives you a 25-minute work session and a 5-minute break.
  4. Pause or resume when you need to. When a session ends, start the next work session or break from Grit or its notification.

Notifications aren’t appearing

Allow notifications when macOS asks. If you previously declined, check Grit under System Settings → Notifications. A denied-permission banner in Grit also links to Settings.

What does Pro add?

Pro adds custom work and break durations, themes and completion sounds. It’s a one-off purchase through the Mac App Store. You don’t need a Coldflint account.

If you already bought Pro, use Restore purchases with the Apple Account that made the purchase. For another problem, contact us with your Grit and macOS versions.
